The University offers a choice of medical plans: A cash option is available in lieu of medical insurance. Coverage begins on the first of the month following the first date of employment. An employee whose first date of employment is the first day of the month will be covered on that date.
Dental insurance is available the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
A vision plan is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Healthcare Flexible Spending Account
A Healthcare Flexible Spending Account allows employees to pay for qualified out of pocket healthcare expenses on a pre-tax basis. Eligibility is the first day of the payroll period following the 30th day of employment.
Group term life insurance is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment and is paid by the University.
Short Term Disability
In the event that an accident or illness extends beyond an employee's sick time bank, Short Term Disability may provide a benefit of 60% of basic earnings. This benefit, funded by the University, is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Long Term Disability
In the event of a long term disability, this insurance may provide a benefit of 60% of basic monthly earnings up to the maximum monthly benefit, less other income benefits as stated in the policy. This benefit, paid for by the University, is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Pennsylvania Worker's Compensation
Medical expenses and partial salary compensation are covered when an employee is injured in an accident in connection with employment at the University.
Automobile and Homeowners' Insurance
Automobile and homeowners insurance is available through payroll deduction.

Tuition Benefits - Employees
Employees are eligible for tuition remission for courses taken at the University.
Tuition Benefits - Family
Spouses and dependent children may be eligible for tuition remission. An employee, whose child would prefer to attend another college or university, may take advantage of two inter-institutional agreements between Saint Joseph’s University and other colleges and universities.

Employees are eligible to utilize a counselor in the Counseling and Personal Development Center for the purposes of referral.
Child care is available at The Children's School at Saint John's Church on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Membership to the Sports Complex is given at no cost to employees, spouses and dependent children. Employees receive a fifty percent discount and preferred seating on tickets purchased in advance, for home SJU basketball games at Alumni Memorial Field House.
