The University offers a choice of medical plans: A cash option is available in lieu of medical insurance. Coverage begins on the first of the month following the first date of employment. An employee whose first date of employment is the first day of the month will be covered on that date.
Dental insurance is available the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
A vision plan is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Healthcare Flexible Spending Account
A Healthcare Flexible Spending Account allows employees to pay for qualified out of pocket healthcare expenses on a pre-tax basis. Eligibility is the first day of the payroll period following the 30th day of employment.
Group term life insurance is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment and is paid by the University.
In the event that an accident or illness extends beyond an employee's sick time bank, short-term disability benefits provide a benefit of 60% of basic earnings. This benefit, funded by the University, is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
In the event of a long-term disability, this insurance may provide a benefit of 60% of basic monthly earnings up to the maximum monthly benefit, less other income benefits as stated in the policy. This benefit, paid for by the University, is available on the first of the month following 90 days of employment.
Pennsylvania Worker's Compensation
Medical expenses and partial salary compensation are covered when an employee is injured in an accident in connection with employment at the University.
