Emerging Leaders Residential Learning Community

The Emerging Leaders RLC is meant to provide first-year students with the opportunity to develop meaningful leadership skills that will assist them in their transition to college as well as in future leadership positions and careers.  Students living in this RLC will be able to interact with other campus leaders, gain a rich understanding of campus activities and involvement, and will participate in events, programs, and leadership workshops that will assist them in developing mature leadership skills.  The Emerging Leaders RLC is housed in McShain Residence Center.

Why are you excited to be the RLC RA?

As the Emerging Leaders RA I am excited to help a great group of residents explore the leadership opportunities the Saint Joe’s and the greater Philadelphia community have to offer. I plan to set up programs that will help residents to improve their leadership skills and to see what leadership means on Hawk Hill. I will be a resource to the Emerging Leaders as they look to join clubs and activities that will develop their leadership experience and to foster the connections and abilities for lasting leadership roles throughout their years at Saint Joe’s.

Why should someone apply to the RLC?

As an Emerging Leader this past year I was able to connect with many clubs and organizations on campus that helped me develop a sense of leadership that I think was incredibly beneficial for my freshman year as well as my next three years at Saint Joe’s. Through various programs that will aim to develop RLC members’ leadership skills such as organizing and planning events, public speaking and efficient group dynamics residents will get a chance to attain an understanding of leadership at Saint Joe’s. Current members of the Emerging Leaders RLC include members of Student Senate, Peer Review Board, Dean’s Leadership Program, Hall Council, Orientation, SJU Theater Company, Weekly Service and Greek Life as well as many other great campus organizations. The Emerging Leaders RLC will introduce students to these organizations and help them cultivate relationships that will develop their leadership potentials.

Why should someone apply to the RLC?

Once I started at Saint Joe's I became very interested in exploring leadership opportunities. There is so much to get involved with and I look forward to helping residents explore these opportunities and make the most of their freshman year at SJU.
