Supplemental Instruction
| Lauri Courtenay, SI Program Administrator: |
Developed in 1973 by Dr. Deanna Martin of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Supplemental Instruction (SI) is an academic support program which targets historically challenging courses. The program offers two regularly scheduled out-of-class review sessions, open to all students enrolled in a targeted course. During the one-hour sessions, students review notes, discuss readings, develop study strategies, and prepare for examinations. Each SI session is facilitated by an SI leader – a student who has previously and successfully completed the targeted course. SI leaders attend all class lectures, take notes, and serve as "model students" for their classmates. |
