Tutoring Services

Welcome to the Learning Resource Center's (LRC) Peer Tutoring Program page. The LRC offers free peer tutoring to currently enrolled Saint Joseph's University undergraduate students in many different subjects.  For tutoring in English and writing, students must confer with The Writing Center.

The LRC offers two kinds of tutoring: walk-in tutoring and assigned tutoring.  Walk-in tutoring is offered in specific subjects at set times and is best for students who are experiencing minor difficulties with their course work.  Walk-in tutoring is available Mondays through Thursdays throughout most of the semester.

Assigned tutoring is when students are matched one-on-one with a tutor who works with tutees in a specific subject for up to one hour, twice a week.  This is for students who are having difficulty gaining independent learning in a course or who are taking a course for which walk-in tutoring is not offered. We encourage students to register for an assigned tutor early in the semester if a particular course presents a challenge, instead of waiting until midterm to decide.

All LRC peer tutoring is done on a first-come, first-served basis.

The LRC's Peer Tutoring Program is currently funded to provide academic support to undergraduates, both Day and Professional and Liberal Studies students, currently enrolled in Saint Joseph's University's undergraduate courses. At this time, graduate tutoring is not provided as the Center is not resourced to fund graduate level tutors.
