You may be hearing and reading about the current multi-state measles outbreak.  Measles is a highly contagious, acute viral illness which can cause severe health complications.  Please visit to learn more.

Currently, there is no cause for concern among SJU students.  Saint Joseph's University requires all full-time undergraduate day students to provide proof of measles vaccination (two properly spaced doses of MMR).  However, Pennsylvania law allows a person to be exempt from immunizations based on a strong moral or ethical conviction, similar to a religious belief.

If you have not been immunized for the measles and wish to discuss ways to protect yourself, please contact the Student Health Center at 610-660-1175.

Self Care Guide

The Student Health Center subscribes to a definition of health that includes the attainment, maintenance and lifelong commitment to an optimum level of wellness. This philosophy is rooted in the Jesuit educational tradition in which there is integration of learning with the development of the person.

The Student Health Center strives to assist students in the pursuit of their academic goals and personal development by identifying and addressing health situations which impede student learning. This mission is served by the provision of high quality health care as well as health promotion that facilitates the development of the whole person.
