How do I access my home directory from campus?
Accessing your home directory from campus is very simple. First, make sure that your computer is connected to the SJU network either through an Ethernet cable or wireless.Then, follow the appropriate steps listed below: Instructions for Mac OS X (Jaguar & Panther)
  1. In Finder, click Go from the menu bar, and click Connect to Server...

  3. In the Server Address field, type in smb://sju_fs1/homes and click Connect.

  5. Enter your SJU Username and Password, and click OK.

That's it! A new icon labeled "homes" will appear on your desktop.

How do I access my home directory from off-campus?
Accessing your home directory from off-campus is very simple. First, make sure that your computer is connected to the Internet and a web browser such as Internet Explorer is open. Then follow the steps listed below:
  1. In the address field, type the following: ftp://SJU_username@polaris.sju.edu
    and click Enter. (Replace SJU_username with your real SJU username such as jdoe or tsmith.).

  3. When prompted, enter your SJU password, and click OK.

That's it! NOTE: You can only download files when accessing your home directory from off-campus. You can't edit, delete, or add files from off-campus.


How do I move files to and from my home directory from off-campus?

If you are working from home and need to move files to your SJU home directory, you will need to use an FTP program such as "Fetch 4.0.3" which is available from "fetchworks.com".
It allows you to download files (Get...) and upload files (Put Files...).

When using Fetch to connect to your SJU home directory from home you will need to fill in the following information:

Host: polaris.sju.edu
User ID: <SJU Username>
