Organizations

The Anti-Violence Partnership of Philadelphia is a unique organization helping children and youth resolve conflict nonviolently, while assisting victims and their families to rebuild their lives in the aftermath of violence.

The mission of Big Brothers Big Sisters Southeastern PA is to improve the lives of children and strengthen communities through professionally-supported, one-to-one mentoring relationships. 

The largest organization working to reduce gun violence, injury and death in Pennsylvania, CeaseFire PA seeks enactment of sensible gun regulations and public policies through grassroots activism, to elect public officials who favor the prevention of gun violence and to increase public awareness about ways to prevent themselves and their loved ones from becoming victims of gun violence.

The Good Shepherd Mediation Program, established in 1984, is a neighborhood justice center located in the Germantown section of Philadelphia. People in conflict come to the Mediation Program to resolve their disputes through mediation.

Men United for a Better Philadelphia (MUBP) is a movement comprised of a group of activists from across the city focused on reducing violence in the City of Philadelphia. Initially motivated by the alarming number of drug-related homicides, the organization will focus as its core mission re-educating men through positive activities. This will be done through a network of support services for men focused on attracting young men away from the type of lifestyles associated with criminal activity.

The Metropolitan Christian Council of Philadelphia (MCCP) mission is to be a visible expression of the Church of Jesus Christ in the Greater Philadelphia area.  The Metropolitan Christian Council of Philadelphia gathers the Church in all its diversity for worship, witness, and service, seeking a transformation of public life consistent with the loving purposes and righteousness of God.

What started as one of the largest marches on Washington, is now a national network of 75 Chapters around the U.S. that work locally, yet stand together, in their fight against gun violence and the devastation it causes.

The mission of Mothers In Charge is violence prevention, education and intervention for youth, young adults, families and community organizations. In addition, Mothers In Charge works with elected officials on legislation to support safe neighborhoods and communities for children and families and collaborates with community and faith based organizations

The Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (MAP) started in 1984 as a component of the Anti-Graffiti Network (PAGN), a city-wide initiative to eradicate destructive graffiti and address neighborhood blight. As part of this effort, PAGN hired mural artist Jane Golden to reach out to graffiti writers and to redirect their energies to mural-making. Mural-making not only helped these young men and women develop their artistic skills, but also empowered them to beautify their neighborhoods. In 1996, the City of Philadelphia recognized MAP as a program distinct from the Anti-Graffiti Network. At the same time, MAP established a non profit organization, The Philadelphia Mural Arts Advocates. The Advocates have a broad mission of youth development and neighborhood revitalization through the arts

PHMC is a non-profit, public health organization committed to improving the health of the community through outreach, education, research, planning, technical assistance and direct services.

The Pennsylvania Injury Reporting and Intervention System (PIRIS) is a hospital-based injury surveillance and intervention system consisting of two components:
  1. The collection of information on injuries, specifically firearm-related injuries.
  2. The development of a multi-system intervention for the victim and family that will provide specific services designed to prevent future violence.

Philadelphia Safe and Sound (PSS) is a leading independent non-profit organization that improves the health, safety, and well-being of children and youth through research, technology, program management, and advocacy.
