Searchable Databases and Online Tools Finding Articles and In-depth Materials A multidisciplinary database, the contents of Academic Search Premier spans just about any academic subject. The database contains both scholarly and popular resources.
Books and book chapters are sometimes the best resources for research into literary genres, themes, authors, and specific works, and our library is home to over 350,000 print volumes, including a large collection for English and American literature. The most important database for literary research, Modern Language Association International Biography is an enormous database indexing scholarly resources on all subjects related to linguistics and literature of any genre from any period. Please note that the database indexes not only journal articles, but also books, book chapters and dissertations. Please note that this is not a full-text database.
This is a collection of the digital versions of the print Cambridge Companion volumes in Literature, Classics, Philosophy, Religion and Culture. Over 280 volumes and over 2,800 scholarly essays are included, freely searchable, and available full-text in PDF format within the database.
Jstor is a full-text, searchable archive of academic journals from any subject. Jstor makes available 15 Language and Literature journals, as well as journals in other relevant academic fields, such as African American Studies, Women's Studies, Anthropology, Film Studies, etc. Volumes of these journals are available starting from the first issues and running up to 3 to 5 years ago; no current issues are available in JSTOR

Introductory Materials This reference work offers fairly detailed entries outlining the life, work and accomplishments of important American figures from any era. Most entries provide a bibliography of the writer’s work and reputable titles for further biographical reading, and sometimes include citations for obituaries. With over 17,000 entries , many, but not all, important American writers are included. Search by author’s last name, or browse names alphabetically.
