The Digital National Security Archive is the most comprehensive collection available of significant primary documents central to U.S. foreign and military policy since 1945. DNSA currently contains twenty-nine collections.  Each collection contains a diverse range of policy documents including presidential directives, memos, diplomatic dispatches, meeting notes, independent reports, briefing papers, White House communications, email, confidential letters and other secret material. Contextual and reference supplements are provided for each collection, including general introductory material, a chronology, glossary and bibliography. The New York Times
Considered the national newspaper of record, the NYT began publishing in the 1850s. The Library has the NYT in various formats from 1851 - current.

  • When searching the time period 1851-1993, traditional print New York Times Index may be consulted.
  • Note: An easy way to search the NYT for any time period prior to 1981 is to use their free search engine. You can search the full text, author, or headline. You can also specify a date range or include advertisements and other listings in your search.

Once you have pinpointed a particular citation, you can come into the Library and retrieve the full text from our microfilm.
