Who is eligible?

Only Saint Joseph's University students who are currently registered in the Distance Education On-line Executive Pharmaceutical Marketing MBA program may use this service.

What is it?

Francis A. Drexel Library's Distance Education Document Delivery Service at Saint Joseph's University, sends  books and periodical articles that you request directly to you in support of your Pharmaceutical Marketing EMBA program.

Much of the material will come from the Library's collections, however periodical articles that are not available at Saint Joseph's may be obtained through our Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department, free of charge.

We regret that Distance Education students will not be able to obtain ILL books through the Document Delivery Service. This is true for traditional ILL and our end-user initiated service, E-ZBorrow. However, if you are willing to come into the Library to pick up and return ILL or E-ZBorrow books, we can certainly help you.

How does it work?

For all requests
  • You may request as many items as you feel are necessary to support your EMBA research. Note that:
    • Not all items in your order may be shipped at the same time or via the same carrier
    • Large orders and orders requiring Interlibrary Loan will take longer to fill.
  • Items are sent 2-day priority mail. Please contact us to discuss other delivery options.
  • Please understand that although we try our very best to fill your requests, there is no guarantee of availability or timeliness.

  •
  • Please help us by:

  •
    • Selecting items that support your EMBA research
    • Prioritizing them
    • Checking their availability in our Library Catalog
    • Including a cancellation date
    • Planning ahead as much as possible -- especially in light of the length of your EMBA courses
    • Consulting with a Reference Librarian to realistically assess your choices.

    •
  • To check the status of your request, use our Ask A Librarian! service or call the Reference Desk at 610-660-1904.  We will respond within 24 hours Monday through Friday.

Book requests

  • Requesting

  • Use the Distance Education book request form. This will prompt you to check the SJU Library Catalog, to see if Saint Joseph's owns the book you need and whether it is available.

    • If the book is owned by Saint Joseph's, and is 'available' :

    • We will retrieve it, check it out to you, and ship it via 2-day priority mail with return postage included..
You can reasonably expect the book within 4 to 7 days of your request.
The loan period is 28 days for students.
The due date is stamped on the 'Date Due' slip in the front of the book.

    • If the book is owned by Saint Joseph's, but is currently checked out :

    • Please contact us at Ask A Librarian! or call the Reference Desk.  We will work with you to see if the book can be recalled for you -- although there can be no guarantee.

    • If the book is NOT owned by Saint Joseph's:
We regret that Distance Education students will not be able to obtain ILL books through the Document Delivery Service. This is true for traditional ILL and our end-user initiated service, E-ZBorrow. However, if you are willing to come into the Library to pick up and return ILL or E-ZBorrowbooks, we can certainly help you.

If it is a hardship to come into the Library, please contact us at Ask A Librarian! or call the Reference Desk.  We will work with you to see if the book is available at your local library, the libraries of your alum schools, or other colleges/universities near your business/home.  While we cannot guarantee your access to a book we will do all we can to help.

  • Returning

  • Return books to the Francis A. Drexel Library at Saint Joseph's.
A return mailing label and the necessary postage is enclosed with the book for your convenience.

  • Renewing

  • To renew a book for another 28 days, call our Service Desk at 610-660-1900 on or before the due date.
Please identify yourself as a 'Distance Education' student, give your name, ID number, and the titles of the books.
Not all books can be renewed.
We will confirm your renewals by phone.

  • Fines
Overdue fines of $.15 per day per book are charged for books returned past their due date.
Replacement and processing fees are charged for lost books.

Article requests

  • Use the Distance Education periodical article request form for articles in periodicals (i.e., magazines, journals, or newspapers). You will be prompted to:
    •
    • Check the SJU Library Catalog, to see if Saint Joseph's owns the periodical you need.  Please note that if the article is available in full text through our Library electronically, it is your responsibility to retrieve it from the Web.

  • If the article appears to be available in hard copy at Saint Joseph's:

  •  We will photocopy and mail it via 2-day priority mail. You can expect to receive it within 4 to 7 days of your request.

Short articles, 15 pages or less, can be faxed -- please specify this preference on the request form.  Note that some email systems have a limit on file size.  If your limit is low, or if your article is graphics-intense, it may not be possible to fax some articles.

The articles are yours to keep, you do not need to return them to the Library.

  • If the article is NOT available at Saint Joseph's:

  •  It may be possible to get a copy of the article from another library. This can take an additional 3 days to 4 weeks.

The articles are yours to keep, you do not need to return them to the Library.
