Q: How do I Locate a Book When I know the Author?

A: Search The Library Catalog, our SJU Library catalog, to locate books that the University owns.

  Here's how:

From the Library's homepage: under the 'Find Books ' drop-down menu:

click JEROME---SJU's Library Catalog.
under the 'Catalogs' menu: click JEROME

Connect to Jerome

click Connect to The Library Catalog

In a Browse Search

( what is the difference between
Browse Search     and Keyword Search ? )

Browse Search

by Author by Author :
enter your Author -- last name first -- in our example: Chaucer, Geoffrey
-- since this is a Browse search, use no other operators (such as: AND OR).

From the alphabetical browse list, select your author--noting that more than one result may appear and there may be variations on the name (middle name included or initials used, etc.) Select your author

Select your title From the 'Result List', select your title by following through to the 'Full Record'.

The full record includes bibliographic information as well as the 'Call Number' that designates where the book is located in the Library.

Full record

You may print the full record ( there is a cost for printing in the Library)

  Important Note:

If the title does not appear in the catalog there are several options available for obtaining the title ---click on the Not in The Library Catalog? button to see them.
