Q. How do I Decide which e-Resources to Use?

A.

In support of the curriculum at Saint Joseph's University, the Library subscribes to many e-Resources and information services:

    e-Resources by Subject www.sju.edu/libraries/drexel/dbsubj.htm
    e-Resources by A -Z www.sju.edu/libraries/drexel/refer.shtml

The Database by Subject pages, provide:

  • clear indications of database content and appropriateness for subject-specific research
  • a clear indication of the amount of full text (i.e. the actual article)
  • a more link that leads to additional information about the subject, content, date coverage, and access for a given database
  • a symbol designating that the database is restricted to use by the currently registered SJU Community. Off-campus Access to these e-Resources is restricted through use of a Proxy Server.

The Database A-Z page:

  • is a quick way to access a particular database when you know exactly what you need to use or when you instructor has specified a database.

   Additionally:
  • Be sure to always include the Multi-Subject e-Resources in your research plan. e-Resources such as Academic Search Premier and ProQuest Genereal Reference should prove to be useful for almost all topics of research at Saint Joseph's.

  • The 'Selected Electronic Resources' portions of our Library Subject Guides, list database suggestions for specific areas of study. These Guides have been created by Librarian subject specialists.

  • When in doubt, please feel free to ask a Reference Librarian in person, on the phone (610-660-1904), or via email (Ask A Librarian!).
