This book could be entitled "Presidential Lives in a Nutshell." It is useful for quickly locating basic family, election, and administration information on each president. (Where was Woodrow Wilson's mother born?) Filled with dates and little known facts. Sources for further reading are listed.

Originally published under the authority of the 52nd Congress in 1897, this multi-volume series contains Presidential documents beginning with George Washington and ending with William McKinley. It should be noted that the material is not inclusive. A good starting place for historical research on the Presidency.


Public Papers of the Presidents of the United States

Compilation of Presidential messages, speeches, and statements beginning with the Eisenhower Administration continuing through the present. Retrospective sets were completed for Herbert Hoover and Harry Truman. Privately published volumes exist for many of the presidents including Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Roosevelt. Recent volumes of President Clinton's paper are available on the web.

The Drexel Library canceled the print edition of this title in December of 2001. The publication is now available by searching specific topics in the Restricted to SJUAcademic Search Premier - More Information database and limiting the Magazine field to Congressional Quarterly Weekly Report (Articles from 1990-1997) or CQ Weekly (Articles from 1998-2003). This title in not available in the database after 2003.
