Accounting B.S.

People who can make sense of dollars and cents, analyze business decisions, and balance the books—accountants are at the heart of business, advising the customers they advise on everything from audits to analysis. The Bachelor of Science in accounting through the College of Professional and Liberal Studies prepares students for the Uniform Certified Public Accountant examination (CPA), while providing the flexibility to take evening and online coursework from an AACSB-accredited university. This degree allows for a seamless transition to the post-baccalaureate certificate in accountancy, which provides the additional credits needed to immediately take the CPA exam.

Both in and out of the classroom, professional development is critical, which is why Saint Joseph’s offers coursework in a variety of business areas. Each student is required to take foundation business courses so that each graduate is able to integrate accounting expertise across multiple business functions, from marketing to finance. The intensive curriculum develops the skills needed to make an immediate impact in the workplace, with opportunities to work on projects from real-world companies and to participate in Beta Gamma Sigma, the international business honor society.

In business, connections across disciplines are important, but so are connections with industry peers. The Saint Joseph’s alumni network and industry connections are strong assets for those pursuing a degree in accounting and provide enhanced networking, internships and job opportunities with local and national firms.
