Admission to the Honors Program requires a minimum high school GPA of 3.75 and a score of at least 1350 on the SAT I. Students very close to but not meeting these standards may choose to apply to the Honors Director for admission to the program, and a decision will be made on an individual basis. Students who achieve a GPA of 3.6 or higher in the first semester of their freshman year may also be invited into the program.

To graduate with General Honors, students must achieve a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above.

Successful completion of General Honors requires at least eight semesters of General Honors work. These eight semesters consist of two semesters of team-taught interdisciplinary courses, two one-semester courses in philosophy or theology and four semesters of other Honors courses.

Departmental Honors requires two consecutive semesters of independent study, during which students are responsible for following the administrative procedures laid out in the University catalog. Candidates appear before an examination committee before the conclusion of the full examination period and deliver a report of their research findings. A copy of the completed project is filed with the Honors Director and the appropriate department chair.

University Scholar candidates must register for a minimum of six research credits per semester. The procedures for applying for University Scholar status are the same as Departmental Honors, and are laid out in the University catalog.

Students completing both General Honors and either Departmental Honors or University Scholars requirements will graduate as Honors Graduates.
