Results and Outcomes
A Jesuit university, Saint Joseph's educates men and women who use their education to make the world better. A student in Saint Joseph's first class of 1851 became a justice of the United State Supreme Court. Today there are approximately 50,000 living Saint Joseph's alumni in law, medicine, business, finance, communications and education -- strengthening their professions and their communities in every part of the world.
An entrepreneurial spirit typifies the Saint Joseph's business graduate, resulting in uncommon energy and focus in the workplace. Whether it be at a Fortune 500 company or in an impressive array of smaller, highly successful firms, SJU alumni have a clear edge with respect to personal ethics, critical thinking and interpersonal communications. "Excellence with a conscience" might be an apt description for the chief executive officer of a financial services provider and employer in over 50 countries; or the president of the leading African-American public relations firm in Philadelphia; or a cutting-edge market research professional who doubles as a best-selling author.
Careers And Mentoring
Students looking for guidance in planning their careers or finding internships and jobs after graduation have an invaluable resource at their disposal: approximately 50,000 living Saint Joseph's alumni in business and other professions. Each year, hundreds of locally-based SJU graduates volunteer as mentors for recent alums, helping to ease the transition from college to professional life. They also meet individually with students to help them define career goals, learn first-hand about professional opportunities and challenges, as well as land that critical "first job." Other alumni return to campus frequently to teach or provide specialized mentoring opportunities.
