As societies continue to develop and grow, it is important for us to understand the past so that we can address human concerns in an empathetic way. A bachelor’s degree in history develops students to become critical thinkers and can lead to numerous careers in education, government, law and a wide range of other fields.

History graduates from Saint Joseph’s are no exception. They have gone on to successful careers on many levels. Some of the positions recent graduates have accepted include:

Well-known businesses continue to recruit and hire Saint Joseph’s history graduates on an annual basis. Among the more recent are the Lincoln Financial Group, Philadelphia District Attorney’s Office, Dilworth Paxson LLP and the United States Congress.

Other students choose to take their education to the next level and enter graduate school. Recent undergraduates have gone on to further study at, among other institutions, Corcoran College of Art & Design, Thomas Jefferson University, University of Virginia and Villanova University.

Perhaps most notably, professions such as History major typically bring attractive salaries. In the most recent survey year (2011)[1], the average starting salary for a Saint Joseph’s history graduate started at $34,200.
