Jewish-Catholic Relations in Germany in 2008

PHILADELPHIA (November 26, 2008) – Rev. Dr. Hanspeter Heinz, a prominent Catholic priest, author and scholar active in the movement to promote Jewish and Christian interfaith dialogue, will visit Saint Joseph’s University on Dec. 9 to report on “Jewish-Catholic Relations in Germany in 2008.” The program, which is sponsored by SJU’s Institute for Jewish-Catholic Relations, will be held from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. in room 107 of Mandeville Hall.

Wealth of Celebrations, Charities Highlight Holidays

Christmas, it seems, comes earlier every year. Area malls have displayed their most festive decorations for weeks and, this year, local radio stations started playing "Jingle Bells" before trick-or-treaters could count their candy from Halloween. At Saint Joseph's University, though, the holidays can never come too early, and departments around campus are rolling out plans to commemorate the season.

Boosting Milk Production One Micro Dairy at a Time

Virginia Miori, Ph.D., assistant professor of decision and system sciences, is thinking a lot about milk these days. She even says the word differently, pronouncing the "k" as if it were its own syllable. Miori has boosted milk production and cut costs at two micro dairies with plans for installing her model at eight more dairies across the country. Her secret - a production scheduling model she developed to change the way farmers process the milk we drink.

ALS Documentary 'Indestructible' to Premiere at SJU

What: Saint Joseph's University will host the second screening of the two-night Philadelphia-area premiere of the award-winning documentary Indestructible. The film explores three years in the life of Ben Byer, a man diagnosed with ALS, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Researchers Hip-Up to Social Networking

MyNetResearch, launched in June 2008, has quickly become the premier online portal for faculty and student academic research. SJU Scientists Study Bacterial Leaf Scorch on Campus

t's fall foliage season on campus. After a late start, the leaves on our numerous trees are turning brilliant, jewel-like shades of ruby, garnet, citrine and topaz. But mixed in with the autumnal palette, there are trees on main campus with leaves that have already turned brown. And if it seems too early in the season for foliage to be desiccated and brown, in many cases, it is.
