Academy of Food Marketing Names New Director

PHILADELPHIA (July 30, 2009) – Robert R. Higgins ’68, a resident of West Chester, Pa., has been named the new executive director of Saint Joseph’s University’s Academy of Food Marketing. Higgins replaces Charles Mallowe ’66 who served the University in the position for 41 years.

SJU Announces New Assistant Vice President

PHILADELPHIA (July 28, 2009) - Wadell Ridley Jr., who had served as executive director of the Mayor’s Office of Community Services in Philadelphia, has returned to Saint Joseph’s University as the assistant vice president for government and community relations.

SJU Launches New Adult Undergrad Programs

PHILADELPHIA (July 15, 2009) – The Saint Joseph’s University Board of Trustees has approved the renaming of University College to the College of Professional and Liberal Studies, effective with the Fall 2009 semester. The new name and forthcoming rebranding effort -- "Your Degree, Your Way" -- is designed to signify the University’s renewed commitment to adult undergraduate education.

Beating Bullies: Seeking New Solutions to Youth Violence

PHILADELPHIA (July 2, 2009)—Sally Black, RN, Ph.D., associate professor of health services at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, was particularly happy to see the American Association of Pediatrics’ newly released policy statement on preventing youth violence. She was even more elated that for the first time ever the statement specifically addresses the issue of bullying, which Black has long been researching and advocating against.
