  • Open for Business: Merion Hall Houses Education Programs

    Though the fall semester isn’t set to begin until August 29, the lights remain on in Merion Hall on the James J. Maguire ’58 campus this summer.  Inside, graphics flash across Smart Boards, hands fly up, and pens dash across paper as Saint Joseph’s education majors and students from various elementary and middle schools in the area participate in one of three educational enrichment summer programs.

  • Expert Named to U.S.-China Program

    PHILADELPHIA (July 27, 2011) - Jay Carter, Ph.D., professor of history and director of the international relations program at Saint Joseph’s University has been selected as a Fellow for the National Committee on United States-China Relations’ Public Intellectuals Program (PIP). Carter joins a cohort of 19 other China specialists and scholars from a variety of disciplines who will participate in a multi-year enrichment program designed to broaden their knowledge of China.

  • Grad Joins Peace Corps to Serve in Ukraine

    PHILADELPHIA (July 18, 2011) - Colleen Smith ’11 of Seaville, N.J., has been accepted into the Peace Corps and assigned to a two-year placement in Ukraine. Smith will begin a three-month pre-service training in September, after which she will teach English at the secondary level and introduce her students to the history and culture of the United States.

    PHILADELPHIA (July 13, 2011) – At a special meeting held Tuesday, July 12, the Saint Joseph’s University Board of Trustees elected Robert D. Falese, Jr. ’69 as its chair.
