Barbelin, with its recognizable bell tower, will be bathed in blue lights to mark the first night of Autism Awareness Month and the eve of World Autism Awareness Day.

In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a resolution declaring April 2 World Autism Day. This year, SJU joins more than 100 landmark sites in over 16 cities and nine countries around the globe – including the Empire State Building, Los Angeles International (LAX) and JFK Airports, the Wrigley building (Chicago), the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Cleveland) and the Bell Tower (Perth, Australia) – that will light up blue to call attention to the many children, adults and families affected by autism.

Last fall, SJU established the Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support to offer programs and resources to help families and professionals cope with the challenges of autism. For more information on the Kinney Center, visit http://kinneyautism.sju.edu./
