  • Communication Studies Adds High-Tech, Collaborative Classroom to Campus

    When members of the Communication Studies faculty and Media Services engineer Justin Fowler first stepped into Merion 174, it was a stark white classroom containing the typical assortment of chairs, desks, a teaching podium and a whiteboard. By August 2013, Fowler and the faculty had redesigned the room into a collaborative learning space, complete with digital monitors, an advanced audio system and file-sharing software.

    PHILADELPHIA (November 12, 2013) – Denise Mann, a resident of Belmont Hills, Pa., recently received the Main Line Chamber of Commerce Gold Leaf Scholarship, which is awarded to female students who exhibit outstanding leadership qualities. She received this $4,000 scholarship, sponsored by Mike Buongiorno, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Main Line Health, during the Main Line Chamber of Commerce Gold Leaf Luncheon on Sept. 24.

The SJU Theatre Company revisits a time when unexpected moments of leisure forced the boundaries of teenage social class and stereotypes in playwright Steven Levenson’s comedy, “Seven Minutes in Heaven.” The show opens on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 8 p.m. and runs through Sunday, Nov. 24. It is the play’s premiere in the state of Pennsylvania.

    What’s not to love about an extra hour of sleep? Just ask any parent and they’ll tell you how that one little hour that gets added every fall as part of Daylight Savings Time can wreak havoc on their children’s routines.

    According to Jodi Mindell, Ph.D., sleep expert and professor of psychology at Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia, there’s plenty that parents can do to be proactive before we “fall back” on November 3.
