Wally Lamb to Read from Latest Novel for SJU Writing Series

PHILADELPHIA (October 4, 2013) —Bestselling author Wally Lamb will read from his new novel, We Are Water, Thursday, Oct. 24, at 7 p.m., in the Wolfington Teletorium in Mandeville Hall. A book signing and reception will follow the reading. We Are Water is set to release on Oct. 22 from HarperCollins Publishers. This free event, hosted by the English department’s Writing Series 2013-14, marks Lamb’s only stop in Philadelphia for his national book tour.


SJU Theater Company to Present “Next to Normal”

PHILADELPHIA (September 30, 2013) – The SJU Theatre Company will perform Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical Next to Normal this fall. The show opens Wednesday, October 2, at 8 p.m., in Bluett Theatre and runs through Sunday, October 6.


SJU Arrupe Center Hosts Discussion Panel with President of Independence Blue Cross

The reception will begin at 6 p.m. and the discussion will follow at 7 p.m.


SJU Welcomes John P. McNulty Scholars and Associates

PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 24, 2013) — Saint Joseph’s University and Anne Welsh McNulty have awarded seven young women the John P. McNulty Scholarship for Excellence in Science and Math. Four of the scholars will receive four-year, full-tuition, merit-based scholarships and will participate in an intensive mentoring and research program. The remaining three scholars hold Associate positions, receiving partial-tuition scholarships, mentoring and research opportunities.


Haub School Moves Up Again in 'U.S.News' Ranking

PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 18, 2013) - Saint Joseph’s University's Haub School of Business (HSB) has moved to 101 — up from 117 —in U.S.News & World Report's 2014 edition of "Best Undergraduate Business Programs."

The rankings, which were released on Sept. 13, also placed HSB's specialty programs in the top tier in their region. Insurance ranked No. 11, and Marketing (entertainment, food, international, pharmaceutical and healthcare, and sports) ranked No. 13.


Video Featuring SJU’s Kinney Center Earns Emmy Award

PHILADELPHIA (September 11, 2013) — A promotional video shot by local CBR Productions for Saint Joseph’s University’s Kinney Center for Autism Education and Support earned an Emmy Award from the Mid-Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy for Television Arts. The video, shot on campus in the summer of 2012, won in the category Education/Schools, Program/Special.


Saint Joseph’s University Places in Top 15 of U.S. News’ 2014 Rankings

PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 10, 2013) – Saint Joseph’s University is again one of the top 15 — at No. 11 — among 193 regional institutions (north) in U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 edition of Best Colleges.  The rankings, which were released on Sept. 10, placed Saint Joseph’s in the top tier in its region for the sixteenth consecutive year.


Haub School of Business Adds Degree Completion Program

Designed for students considering beginning or completing their bachelor's degree in business, the new Haub Degree Completion Program enrolled its first students this fall.


Professor Joins Library Company Board

PHILADELPHIA (August 23, 2013) —Professor of History Randall M. Miller, Ph.D., has been appointed to the board of trustees of The Library Company of Philadelphia (LCP), the nation’s oldest cultural institution, which was founded by Benjamin Franklin in 1731.
