Public Enemy’s Chuck D. To Visit SJU

What: From rapper to activist, Chuck D. of the multi-platinum hip-hop group Public Enemy,will speak with Saint Joseph’s University students about his experiences as a rapper, composer, actor, author, radio personality and producer. The event is sponsored by the University’s American Marketing Association and the Office of Multicultural Life.

Mr. DHighlights: As the founder of Public Enemy, Chuck D has been called “one of the most colossal figures in the history of hip-hop.” He will share his knowledge of the entertainment industry with students who are interested in pursuing careers as marketers in the field. The artist will also speak about the culture of rap and its influence on race and society.

The event is an extension of the marketing department’s efforts to offer students an opportunity to interact with industry executives. The University’s new record label – Hawk Will Never Die Records – affords students with a similar opportunity and happens to also share the same distributor as Chuck D.’s record company: Slam Jamz.

The event is free and open to the public.
