Food On Demand

Food industry to share new strategies in competing for consumer attention

PHILADELPHIA (February 14, 2008) – "Food on demand" is a popular trend in the food industry with workdays getting longer and families getting busier. With the prevalence of ready-made food available in an array of retail stores, restaurants and supermarkets, food is being marketed in every possible venue and creating an ever - expanding job market for food industry leaders.

Saint Joseph's University's food marketing department is hosting a food industry summit, "Food On Demand: Battle for Share of the Stomach," on Thursday March 6, 2008 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This summit invites attendees to collaborate on industry issues and share their expertise in food commerce.

"The positive feedback we've received from senior executives is that they are excited about attending this topical event and having the rare opportunity to network with their colleagues," said Robert Higgins, Center of Food Marketing Executive Director.

Among the speakers attending are Kevin Havelock, president of Unilever United States; Bill Shaner, president and CEO of Save-A-Lot; Alan Wilson, president and CEO of McCormick & Company, Inc.; Mark Allen, president & CEO of International Food Distributors Association; Hank Mullany, senior vice president and president, Northeast Division of Wal-Mart.
