PHILADELPHIA (Sept. 19, 2011) – On Monday Sept. 19, Saint Joseph’s University’s students will get lessons on business ethics from a former investment executive with a criminal record. Justin Paperny of Etika LLC, once managed more than $150 million as a stock-broker and worked at some of the country’s best known investment banks – unfortunately, he also committed fraud, pleaded guilty to violating securities laws and served 18 months in a federal prison.
Paperny paid his debt to society and now uses his insider experience to educate people across the country on white-collar crime, the motivations behind it and the consequences that will inevitably follow. His story and presentations have been featured in Forbes, ABC News and NBC News.
Paperny has also written two books, Lessons from Prison and Ethics in Motion, he regularly speaks to students and professionals across the country, sharing unique and honest insights into the system and mindset which led him to make unethical decisions. On Monday, Sept. 19 at 6:30 p.m., he will be sharing his message and story with Saint Joseph’s University students in Mandeville Hall’s Wolfington Teletorium.
The lecture is sponsored by the University’s Pedro Arrupe Center for Business Ethics.
The mission of the Arrupe Center is to assure that students are equipped to engage in careful, sustained, and critical reflection on ethical issues and are prepared to use that reflection in their business decision making.
