Netsepoye hawesi
Netsepoye is a petalodont known only from two partial specimens. The published information is from an individual with a complete head, an intact dentition, and an incompletely preserved body. The dentition is heterodont, with high, sharp-crowned median and proximal teeth similar in shape to those of Belantsea (left), grading into small molariform Janassa-like distal teeth at the lower right. Both upper (left) and lower (upper right) dentitions are illustrated.
A sharp whorl of spikes is found on the rear of the mandible and enlarged denticles are found along the first few radials of the pectoral fin; but the skin otherwise lacked scales. The pectoral fin is very broad, the pelvic girdle has a very high dorsal process, but other fins are not known in any detail.
