Two scales from Strepsodus sp.

These two large (about 4-6 cm) scales show two different modes of patterning as well as different shapes.  The fish that shed these scales across the bay was clearly rather large. Neither the patterning nor the shape differences can currently be associated with any whole fish. We are still digging.
