Within the last five years, Saint Joseph's University was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter in recognition of liberal arts achievement, and its Erivan K. Haub School of Business was accredited by AACSB International-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. Only 141 other colleges and universities in the country, and just two others in Philadelphia, can claim both of these prestigious endorsements.
Saint Joseph's has spent several consecutive years ranked in the top 15 of its category, Master's Universities (North), in U.S. News & World Report's annual "America's Best Colleges" edition. The University also fares well in other recognized ratings, including regularly earning "very competitive" status in Barron's Profiles of American Colleges.
Sparked by an institutional priority to become even stronger academically, Saint Joseph's has successfully recruited its most outstanding incoming freshmen over the past 10 years. As the Office of Admissions has instituted more rigorous standards and enrolled the largest classes in school history, the University's acceptance rate has improved from 83 percent to a highly selective 47 percent.
Founded by the Society of Jesus in 1851, Saint Joseph's University advances the professional and personal ambitions of men and women by providing a demanding, yet supportive, educational experience. The University is home to 4,200 full-time undergraduates and 3,200 graduate, part-time, and doctoral students. Steeped in the 450-year Jesuit tradition of scholarship and service, Saint Joseph's strives to be recognized as the preeminent Catholic comprehensive university in the Northeast.
