A Maguire Campus Update

November 13, 2009

A fourth meeting before the Lower Merion Zoning Hearing Board took place on November 5 Witnesses testifying at the hearing included Andreas Heinrich, a traffic consultant, Felicia Doggett from Metropolitan Acoustics and E. Carr Everbach, a sound consultant. Testimony focused on the proposed public address system and neighborhood vehicle trips. The fifth hearing is scheduled for 5 p.m. on November 30.

The University placed an ad in the November 12 Main Line Times with details on its plans for the athletic fields on the Maguire Campus. The ad was intended to clarify some questions regarding the athletic fields. For example, the University will play significantly fewer games on the fields than Episcopal Academy.

The University remains committed to a Maguire Campus that enhances the SJU student experience while being respectful of the character of the surrounding community. As you can see to the left, it has been more than 529 days since Episcopal Academy last played a varsity game on what is now the Maguire Campus. We hope our baseball, softball and field hockey players will soon be able to play on the fields, just as Episcopal students did for more than 60 years.

We appreciate your continuing support and interest in the Maguire Campus. Please call the Office of External Affairs at 610-660-1226 with any questions.
