University Safety Committee

Mission Statement: The Saint Joseph's University Safety Committee is empowered to examine, identify and correct all potential risks and hazards that might, in any way, endanger the well being of the campus community. This committee meets quarterly to discuss safety issues that are of interest and importance to the entire University community.

WORK PLACE SAFETY COMMITTEE:

Purpose: This committee was formed in December of 2004 and investigates all reported employee accidents and near misses. Recommendations are made on improving the workplace to ensure the safety of all employees.

ATHLETICS RECREATION SAFETY COMMITTEE:

Each committee member is assigned an area of the Sports Complex, Fieldhouse or Finnesey Field for periodic inspection. Observations noted during these inspections are discussed at the meetings. Each concern is reported and appropriate action is recommended. Any emergency or pressing situation is brought to the immediate attention of the chairman.

This committee meets three (3) times a year.

FACILITIES MANAGEMENT SAFETY COMMITTEE:

Mission Statement: To help provide a safe working environment for all SJU students and personnel.

  1. To insure that the Work Safety Rules of the Facilities Management Department are followed by all Facilities personnel.
  2. To report ay unsafe conditions or acts on campus and provide corrective action where needed within the Facilities Dept.
  3. Disseminate safety information to all department employees.

This committee meets every month.
