About the Archives
The Archives and Special Collections at Saint Joseph's University is responsible for the collection, maintenance, and preservation of all university materials in an effort to keep them as part of this institution's historical record. The Archive Collection consists of 536 linear feet of departmental records, photographs, manuscripts dating back to the university's founding, university publications (including the student newspaper, The Hawk), university memorabilia, and newspaper clippings that record the ever evolving intellectual and physical landscape of the university. Special Collections consists of a variety of rare and unique books. Most materials under the care of the unit are available for use within the library; however, some materials may require supervision by library personnel. |

Access to Archives and Special Collections:
- Monday through Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm. Requests for specific materials can be made at the Service and/or Information Desks during these hours.
- Research questions can be asked in person, or can be sent via e-mail to mcavinue@sju.edu.
- Phone requests will also be taken at (610) 660-1953. When leaving a message, please leave your name, phone number where you can be reached, and a brief message concerning your research request.
