Giving honor to God, I thank him for directing my life and bringing me here to Saint Joseph's University to serve as director for institutional diversity. Since my arrival, I have been warmly welcomed by the various members of the Saint Joseph's community, and graciously so, for I plan on enlisting their assistance in helping to obtain the goals of diversity as discussed in Plan 2010.
To move forward on the path to preeminence, it will take the support and the collaborative efforts of the university community. Diversity needs to be embraced as a necessary aspect of the Saint Joseph's mission; it is not ancillary to our Jesuit and Catholic ideals, but central to it. My goal as director it to help the university develop an infrastructure that will seek, encourage and nurture diversity at all levels of the institution.
As director, I oversee and participate in a variety of programs that deal with diversity at both an administrative and faculty and staff level, as well as maintain a close relationship with Multicultural Life. Feel free to contact my Office if you have any questions or comments regarding diversity at Saint Joseph's.
God's Blessings,
Valerie Dudley, Ph.D.
