The University has learned that a sexual assault that was reported to have occurred on Saturday morning, September 17, 2011 between 2 and 3:30 a.m. may have taken place within reasonably close proximity to the campus. While the precise location of the assault remains unknown, it is believed that the assault occurred inside of what was perceived by the student reporting the assault to be a taxi-cab. The vehicle has been described as being either green and white or black and white. There may be a passenger side door (either front or back) that differs in color than the rest of the vehicle. The person reported to have engaged in the assault is described as a black male, dark complexion with a raspy voice, no accent. No further description is currently available, but the Philadelphia Police Department is investigating the reported assault, with the University’s assistance.

All students are reminded to always travel in groups of two or more when leaving campus and when returning to your final destination. Also, please make a concerted effort to notice descriptors of vehicles, including taxi-cabs and details regarding the driver, when entering a vehicle. Importantly, based on the circumstances surrounding this reported sexual assault, please take steps to make sure that if you are entering what you believe to be a taxi-cab, it is one.
