Passport Program

What is The Passport Program?
Passport is a unique academic support program that grants students an opportunity to earn admission to Saint Joseph's. Sometimes students' SAT scores or their high school grade point averages do not accurately reflect their academic promise.

Saint Joseph's is committed to giving these students the opportunity to attend a great university--through the Passport Program. The program begins with conditional acceptance and a comprehensive support system, in which students receive personalized academic advising throughout their undergraduate experience--all the way to graduation.

How Does Passport Work?
Once accepted into the Passport Program, students participate in a six-week residential summer program, from late June through early August. Some students may choose to commute from home. This experience introduces them to college-level coursework and eases the transition to college life. After matriculating in the fall, students are provided with a variety of services designed to help them reach their goals within the University.

The Summer Experience
College credits for GER (General Education Requirement) course. Intensive preparatory coursework in Math and Writing. Valuable series of Study Skills and College Success workshops.

Support During the Academic Year

  • Individualized study skills counseling, academic advising and career planning from Passport Advisor.
  • Peer tutoring for difficult courses.
  • Reduced courseload during fall semester.
  • Ongoing special events.

How Do You Apply?
Passport is a very selective program with an enrollment limited number of students. If you would like to be considered for the Passport Program, please submit an Admissions Application or the Common Application, including high school transcripts, test scores (SAT or ACT), essay and recommendations.

Candidates for admission to the Passport Program will be invited to campus for an information session or personal interview with a member of the Passport Program's staff.
