Students Rights & Responsibilities
In an effort to protect the rights of students with disabilities, St. Joseph’s University recognizes that all parties have responsibilities to one another. Thus,
- Students have the responsibility to self-identify and notify our office of any reasonable academic adjustment requests in a timely manner.
- Students are responsible for providing appropriate and current documentation (within 3 years) to our office supporting the requested academic adjustment.
- Students have the responsibility to advocate for their own individual needs and to seek out information, counsel and assistance to be an effective self-advocate.
- Students are responsible to comply with the University’s Student Code of Conduct as published in the Student Handbook.
- Students are responsible for following all published procedures and guidelines to request any reasonable academic adjustment.
- Students are responsible for completing the same academic curriculum and maintaining the University’s academic & technical standards.
- Students have the right to confidentiality of all information and have a right to choose to whom any information about their disabilities will be disclosed.
- Students have the right to equal access and participation to all University programs, services and activities that are provided to any student with or without a disability.
- Students have the right to reasonable academic adjustments in all aspects of their educational experiences.
- Students have the right to information regarding the availability of reasonable academic adjustments and procedures for making requests.
- Students have the right to be informed of procedures for filing a grievance based on harassment, discrimination or to appeal a decision by the institution regarding a reasonable academic adjustments.
