School Closing / Late Opening Information

School Closing / Late Opening Information is made available in a couple of ways: KYW Newsradio 1060AM and a Snow/Emergency "Hotline". For details on Late Openings, please scroll down and read those details.

KYW Newsradio (1060AM)

School closing and late opening information is announced on local radio station KYW Newsradio 1060AM. Saint Joseph's identification numbers on KYW are as follows:

Identification Number University Programs

216	College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Administration,and Administrative offices
2104	University College and graduate courses

"Hot Line"

Saint Joseph's has established an Snow/Emergency "Hot Line" for information on school closure. The number is (610) 660-3333. All Faculty, Staff and Students may call this number for a recorded message with university closing (or late opening) information.

Late Opening

Announcements of Late Opening will also be made on KYW 1060AM. The options that KYW gives us are only 3, namely: Closed; Open 1 hour late; Open 2 hours late.

For all offices:

1 hour late means opening at 10 a.m.
2 hours late means opening at 11 a.m.
If a class is scheduled to start prior to the announced time of opening, it is canceled. Classes are not delayed.

Closing / Late Opening Policy
The policy governing cancellation of classes and closing of administrative offices is as follows:

Classes will be conducted as usual unless an announcement to the contrary is made by means of the closing number for Saint Joseph's University being announced on local radio stations among those schools to be closed on a given day. The closing number for the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Business and Administration, and administrative offices is 216. This number applies only to these colleges and to administrative offices. The closing number for the University College and graduate courses is 2104. This number applies only to University College and graduate courses. The radio station participating in the school announcements program is: KYW 1060 AM.
