This page assumes you have already set up and configured the Testing Server, and need only to know how to invoke the preview feature. More general background info about the Testing Server is also available.

Using the testing server is simple, but may at first be slightly counter-intuitive for more advanced users used to the more generic style described below.

Upon invoking the Preview feature, Dreamweaver will send your files to the Testing Server and open a browser window directly to the corresponding Testing Server URL.

With Dreamweaver, there are two ways to preview a file. You can either preview the page you are currently working on, or preview an un-opened file. To invoke the Preview feature...

• on the page you are editing, click the File menu, then Preview in Browser, and then choose the browser you would like to preview within (show me).
• on any page, right-click the file you wish to preview, choose Preview in Browser, and then choose the browser you would like to preview within (show me).

This is a preview of what you can expect to see when you upload it to the production webserver. When you are happy with what you see, upload your changes to the production webserver. If you are not happy with what you see, fix the errors and re-preview the page. If you do not see any changes, try clicking the "Reload" button in your web browser.
