SJU Style Guide: Box Styles

This page demonstrates CSS styles for boxes made available through the standard SJU stylesheets. Anybody using the official SJU templates will have access to the following styles.

Note: If you unsure how to apply these styles, or styles in general, please refer to "How-To Apply CSS Styles using Dreamweaver."

"timelyevent". If you have an time-sensitive announcement that you want to have stand out on your page so visitors pay attention, use this style.

"timelyevent" example:

Attention Seniors! (CSS style: "teheader")

All senior honors theses (bound, and signed by your advisor) are due in to the Psychology Department office no later than Friday, April 10, 12pm noon.

When applying "timelyevent", it is recommend you use the <div class="timelyevent"> ... </div> element over <p class="timelyevent"> ... </p>. This may require a manual adjust in the HTML from the Dreamweaver default.

"newsbox". Similar in functionality to "timelyevent" above, yet attracts less attention due to its more neutral colors.

"newsbox" sample:

Mark it down... (CSS style: "newsboxtitle")

- Feb 10, Guest Lecture, "Adam Smith in Perspective"
- Feb 12, Colloquium, "Fieldwork Research Methods"

(All events open to the public unless otherwise noted.)

For better results when using "newsbox", use the <div class="newsbox"> ... </div> element over <p class="newsbox"> ... </p> or <span class="newsboxtitle">Title</span>. This may require a manual adjust in the HTML from the Dreamweaver default.
