SJU Style Guide: Text Styles

This page demonstrates CSS styles for simple text formatting made available through the standard SJU stylesheets. Anybody using the official SJU templates will have access to the following styles.

Note: If you unsure how to apply these styles, or styles in general, please refer to "How-To Apply CSS Styles using Dreamweaver."

The name of the specific style is offered (in parentheses) at the end of each line.


This is a sample of H1 (1st level heading) text (Format: "<h1>" or "Heading 1")


This is a sample of H2 (2nd level heading) text (Format: "<h2>" or "Heading 2")


This is a sample of H3 (3rd level heading) text (Format: "<h3>" or "Heading 3")


This is a sample of H4 (4th level heading) text (Format: "<h4>" or "Heading 4 ")


This is a sample of H5 (5th level heading) text (Format: "<h5>" or "Heading 5 ")

This is a sample of H6 (6th level heading) text (Format: "<h6>" or "Heading 6 ")

Philadelphia is cold in December. (CSS Style: "subtitle")


Singapore is never cold. It remains warm throughout the year, and does not have four seasons like Philadephia. Such an environment makes it a year-round spot for tropical-weather seeking tourists. (CSS Style: "subtext")


For Students (CSS Style: "depttocsect")
Academic Calendar, Email, Course Catalog, more... The above style is recommended for department homepages, in particular.


Preformatted text (Style: <pre> or "Preformatted")

Use the <code> tag if you wish to offer people snippets of HTML or CSS (or any other computer language) in your writing (Format: "<code>" or Style: "code")
