The Hopkins Quarterly

The Hopkins Quarterly is a major research journal widely quoted in Victorian studies. In scholarly articles and book reviews, it focuses on the lives and works of Gerard M. Hopkins, S.J., and his circle: Robert Bridges, R. W. Dixon, and Coventry Patmore. Welcoming both traditional and new approaches, it offers the international perspectives of Britain, Canada, France, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, the Netherlands, Spain, the United States and other countries.

Founded in 1974, The Hopkins Quarterly has published essays and reviews by the world’s foremost Hopkins scholars: Michael Allsopp, Jerome Bump, James Finn Cotter, David J. DeLaura, David A. Downes, René Gallet, Lesley J. Higgins, Norman H. MacKenzie, Paul Mariani, Peter Milward,S.J., Michael D. Moore, Walter J. Ong, S.J., Catherine Phillips, Rachel Salmon, Kunio Shimane, Graham Storey, Alison G. Sulloway, R.K.R. Thornton, Norman White, and Tom Zaniello.

The Hopkins Quarterly is co-edited by Joseph J. Feeney, S.J., (Saint Joseph’s University) and Joaquin Kuhn (University of Toronto); its book-review editor is Catherine Phillips (University of Cambridge) and its bibliographer, Pamela Palmer (University of Memphis).

Carlyle Studies Annual

The Carlyle Studies Annual is an international journal devoted to the life and times of Thomas and Jane Welsh Carlyle and their circle. Founded in 1980, The Carlyle Studies Annual  has published essays and reviews by leading Carlyle scholars, including Kenneth J. Fielding, Rosemary Ashton, Ian Campbell, John Clubbe, Mark Cumming, David DeLaura, Rodger L. Tarr, Ruth apRoberts, Aileen Christianson, Michael Timko, Clyde de L. Ryals, Sheila McIntosh, G. B. Tennyson, Patrick Brantlinger, and Chris Vanden Bossche. The journal not only welcome articles on the Carlyles, but also on other nineteenth–century figures, both major and minor. In addition, we welcome studies of the Carlyles in relation to Victorian social, cultural, political, and intellectual history, with particular emphasis on letters and letter–writing.

The editors welcome articles not only on the lives and writings of the Carlyles, but on other nineteenth-century figures, both major and minor, as authors and correspondents. They also welcome studies of Victorian social, cultural, political, and intellectual history, with particular emphasis on letters and letter-writing. Double-spaced manuscripts should be approximately 6500 words or less, and should be submitted in MLA style. Please send two hard copies and an electronic copy in Microsoft Word to Brent E.
