 Sigma Phi Epsilon

ABOUT US

Sigma Phi Epsilon was founded nationally on November 1, 1901, at Richmond College.

  • Over the past two decades, SigEp has recruited more men than any other collegiate fraternity. Currently, over 14,000 undergraduates are members, making SigEp the largest national fraternity.

  • Maintains the highest first-year member retention rate, over 90%, of any national fraternity.

  • 255,000 lifetime members rank SigEp in the top four among national fraternities.

  • Governed by the Grand Chapter, which is composed of undergraduate delegates from each chapter, District Governors, and the National Board of Directors.

  • Maintains a full-time professional staff of over 35 people.

  • Publishes a magazine, The Journal of Sigma Phi Epsilon, which is distributed to all members for life.

Locally, Saint Joseph's University hosts the Pennsylvania Psi chapter of SigEp, founded in 1988. Our official philanthropy here at SigEp SJU is servicing the Ronald McDonald House of Philadelphia.

  • The Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House® started on October 15, 1974 at its first site which was located at 4032 Spruce Street in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

  • Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House is the first of two hundred houses in operation internationally, existing to create a “home-away-from-home” for families treating their ill children.

  • The House has forty-three rooms that serve more than 1,000 families each year; additionally, PRMH has family lounges, outdoor play areas, a teen center, laundry facilities and a large communal kitchen.

  • Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House is run by the work of volunteers; only eight full-time paid staff work at the House, while over 200 volunteers give more than 20,000 hours of service per year.

If you would like to volunteer your time and/or service to the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House® please contact our Director of Volunteers, Linda Parry at 215-387-8406. ext 302 or SigEp Chaplain Nick Leon at (703) 403-4680. On behalf of the families, volunteers and staff here at the House, thank you for your interest in the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House® .
