Harambee African Awareness ("Harambee")
Harambee Mission/Purpose
Harambee is established for the purpose of alleviating the suffering of African children whose lives have been oppressed by overwhelming poverty. This group will be inextricably linked with Dagorretti 4 Kids, an orphanage in Kenya. Harambee is Swahili for "pull together." This philosophy, integrated with the Jesuit adage of being men and women for others, highlights a second function of the group which is to promote awareness on issues and obstacles facing African children today. As a group, HARAMBEE works collectively to shatter complacent attitudes within and the community as a whole.
