The Office of Educational Support Services for Student Athletes monitors the academic progress of student athletes in compliance with SJU, Atlantic 10 and NCAA rules and regulations.  The office serves as a liaison between the athletic department, faculty and administration, while serving as secondary advisors to student athletes.  The office provides student athletes with many resources to assist them in reaching their academic goals.  Professional tutors are available to all student athletes in the majority of the general education courses, including English, Mathematics, Theology, Philosophy, Social Sciences and Natural Sciences.  All freshman and selected upperclassman are required to attend study, this time can be used to meet with tutors, the Learning Specialist, work on group projects, use the computer lab or for quiet study.    
Coordinated through the Office of Educational Support Services for Student Athletes, Saint Joseph’s student athletes utilize numerous support programs available through the University.  Those programs include the Learning Resource Center, Career Services, the Counseling Center and the Writing Center.  The services available to student athletes include career choice assistance, academic skills workshops, individual tutoring and personal development, allowing for success in the present while preparing for the future.
