MEMORANDUM

TO:                  All DSCP Students

FROM  :           Amy Barth

SUBJECT:       SJU Withdrawal Policies and Procedures

DATE:              December 20, 2005

Please take note of the following information regarding withdrawal from courses at SJU.

Students may drop a course during the drop/add period (see enclosed refund schedule).  Drop/Add forms are available from the University College office or on the web.  The completed form must be submitted to the Student Service Center.  When a course is dropped, it does not appear on the student’s transcript and does not affect your gpa.

Students wishing to withdraw from a course must submit an official notice of withdrawal to the Student Service Center in writing on the day of withdrawal.  The date the University receives the notice of withdrawal shall in all cases be considered the day of withdrawal.  A grade of “W” will be recorded on your transcript and this grade will not affect your gpa.  You will not, however, receive a refund after the refund date on the enclosed schedule.

Withdrawal from any course without official notice will result in the recording of FA (failure due to excessive absence) in that course.

You should also know that withdrawing from a course may affect your financial aid eligibility.  Questions regarding this should be addressed to your financial aid counselor.

You cannot withdraw from a course 2 weeks before it is over except for extraordinary reasons.

If you have any questions, please contact our office.
