Legal Administrative Assistant Certificate Program
Admission / Course Requirements and Descriptions / Program Format
University College is now offering a new certificate program. The Legal Administrative Assistant
Certificate Program, the only one of its kind in the Philadelphia area, is designed to satisfy the growing need for mature, well-educated legal assistants.
Why should I become a Legal Administrative Assistant? Shouldn't I get a Paralegal Certificate?
The number of knowledgeable legal assistants in the workforce is dwindling, even as the legal industry continues to grow. Most individuals are pursuing paralegal positions. According to the Association of Legal Administrators, the role of legal assistants will be "redirected from a career centered around document production toward a career in which time and project management, together with increased knowledge of technology are more critical." SJU has worked with the Association of Legal Administrators to design the curriculum for the Legal Assistant Certificate. Additionally, Legal Assistants enjoy superior earnings potential and more flexible (or predictable) work hours.
