University Student Senate Bookstore Committee
Meeting Minutes- 3/18/08 1pm

• Reviewed Survey results from 1st Café Day
• Confirmed that Bookstore will be carrying Basketball jerseys in the
fall
• Greek gear is available at efollettgreek.com
o Store did carry Greek apparel in the past, but lack of sales ended
that
• Asked about Fair Trade
o Follett follows its’ Vendor Labor Code of Conduct
o All vendors that Follett purchases products from have been approved
by this code

• Store is completely doing away with cigarettes and tobacco products
• Will sell what stock they have, after that, will not order more
• Responses to survey suggestions:
o Vera Bradley brand has been ordered, will be for sale
o SJU flip flops will be available for the summer (June)
o Store does carry face paint
o Since move to new location, hours have been extended (open 7 days a
week)
o Expanded selection of merchandise
o Time period for textbook returns is in line with rest of country’s
standard
• Manager would like to see that Course Packets from University Press
be sold in Bookstore
• Only 12 more prints of Barbelin left, would like to use University
Press archives to print and sell more scenes of campus
• Pursuing a Faculty Author section in store
• Pursuing more in-store events, book signings, special appearances,
etc.
• Manager expressed desire to have more students use store as a resource
• Pursuing more student involvement regarding events
• Possible “Creative Students Week”
o Exhibition of student artwork, literature, music
o Have student-created products for sale in bookstore
