Securities Meeting with Bill Mattioli

Ligthing on Campus
• Facilities looking into lights near the side of Campion and Simpson
Hall (Flood Lights)
• All lights were changed to the highest bulbs this past summer
Self Defense Course
• The cost will be split between Security and USS
• Would like to have one per semester
• Planning the date for the middle of April
Parking During Basketball Games
• Anyone with a decal does not have to pay to park
• Athletics run the parking charges not Security
• Only cars with a decal are allowed to park in Mandeville – unless
there is room for visitors to park
Shuttles
• Students from Overbrook complain about having to walk to class
because the shuttle is passing over them when they are full
• Driver of shuttle is still suppose to make all scheduled stops and
tell the students that they are full and will call for back up
• Students cannot get up five minutes before class and rush out to get
a shuttle when it is already full. They need to learn to get up at a
decent time
• Shuttles stay on schedule unless there is bad weather or traffic on
City Ave.
• Three shuttles and a back up van are running from 8am-11am (2 West
Shuttles, 1 East Shuttle, 1 Back up van, and 1 Escort)
• During bad weather the shuttles are stopped because of accidents and
sliding
• Over 100 students are going into Bala – Bala stop will be added to
the shuttle schedule
Escorts
• Last weekend it was reported that 600-850 students called for the
escort between the times of 10pm and 6am
• Policy is that if you are near a shuttle stop you must take the
shuttle
• The escorts are no longer taking kids to houses or corners for parties
• Students are taking advantage of the Escorts. They are not a taxi
service.
Patrol Cars
• Two officers and a vehicles are stationed on 54th 7 days a week
• Cars patrol 63rd to 52nd and Overbrook to Malvern 7 days a week
• Police patrol 7pm – 3am
Residence Buildings
• All security guards were taken out of Residence Buildings and put on
duty around campus
• Workers at desk suppose to check bags for every certain number of
students that walk in
• RA’s are told at the beginning of the year the policy on bag checking
and that there are no more security guards in the buildings
• Lancaster Court has Security 24/7
Newsletter to Students from Security
• Escort policy and recent statistics on the number or students who
have called for an escort to go to parties
• Shuttle policy and note to students about getting up earlier to
assure a seat on the shuttle
• Security’s main purpose for protecting the students not acting like a
taxi service for transportation to parties
• Security regarding Resident Halls
• Areas of patrol cars
