"Meet the Senate" event -- The Communications Committee, Student Body President & a SJU student!
The 7th USS Communications Committee
What We Do:
Our goal is to create a positive image of the USS and find ways to effectively reach out to the student body in order to solicit suggestions and opinions to create a better atmosphere at SJU.
How We Do It:
We meet biweekly on Wednesdays at 4:00PM in the Senate Office Campion 227B
Cafe Days: A monthly event to engage with the students and acquire their opinions through surveys such as what they think of dining services, security, facilities, etc. Any suggestions can be submitted to uss@sju.edu.

Newsletters: A way of putting our name on the changes we have influenced on campus. They are distributed monthly to Campion, Admissions building, Residence Halls, Starbucks, Cosi’s, and are placed online. Positive changes include Campion Renovations.
Senate Scoop: Emailing of campus updates to students who are interested in hearing about changes. The newsletter will also be mailed to these individuals.
Bulletin Board: Updated biweekly to inform students of important changes on campus and what Senate is working on. Ex: Meet your Senators
Organizational President’s Association: A monthly meeting for the president’s of all organizations on campus to discuss their individual goals and seek cooperation from others. A usual tool for the administration to communicate to the schools leaders. The Vice President for Communications is responsible for creating agendas and facilitating meetings.
Promotions: Improving University Student Senate’s reputation and making students more aware of our presence on campus. Current forms of promotions include fan scrolls, sweatshirts, chip clips, and banners.
Roles:
Communications Director: The Vice President’s assistant, helps with the planning and execution of Cafe Days. They investigate possible promotion ideas.

Community Service:
The Communications Clan is also responsible for planning Community service events for the Senate.
Community Day-- The Communications Committee and the rest of the USS were instrumental in the planning of the first ever "SJU Community Day". We joined forces with SUB, BSU and Greek Life to give back to the community on April 21st.
