President’s goals for the 8th University Student Senate:

Continue to provide a “voice” for the Student Body @ SJU

Maintained focus on garnering student input

Blog on Senate website (coming soon!)
White board outside office (coming soon!)

Improved President’s Desk articles with more Senate updates & information on how to get opinions heard
Ongoing presence on University Committees to provide student input

Develop essential relationships with other aspects of campus & the community

Vice President for Mission – Added a new VP to the Senate’s Executive Board appointed from within Campus Ministry to formally “bridge the gap” between Student Life & Campus Ministry.
Attending Global Hawks meetings to ensure communication with International Students

Offer more opportunities for discussion & student feedback

Open forums

“Hot Topics”—The Senate now has a weekly hot topic that will be open for discussion at meetings between senators, students and any administration present

Improve the sense of Community @ SJU

Bridging the Gap Campaign – Senate is an integral part of the BTG campaign where a group of students are working toward making campus more welcoming and peaceful for all.

Improve the Advising Programs @ SJU

CAS Advising Center Initiative – Evaluate student need for an advising center in the CAS and make a recommendation to Administration based on results

Survey on Student Voice to come before Easter Break!
Surveying both CAS & HSB students on advising experiences

Develop cohesive, large and important 8th Senate goals & facilitate their implementation. Also, appoint Administrative Board members as chairs of these initiatives to develop future leadership for the Senate.
